NC/JGHS Alumni Endowed Scholarship

The New Concord/John Glenn Alumni Endowed Scholarship

At the 50th Reunion of the N.C.H.S. Class of 1957 in August 2007, classmates agreed to start an endowed college scholarship fund to assist outstanding graduates of John Glenn High School.

The first contributions were made by the Class of ’60, the Class of ’57, the Class of ’54 and many other individuals. The fund is administered by the East Muskingum Student Endowment Board, a non-profit trust established in 1983 by East Muskingum Local Schools and currently managed by the Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF). Your contribution is tax deductible.

Since the N.C.H.S. and J.G.H.S Alumni have combined, we are awarding four $1,000 scholarships. These are: two Legacy Scholarships (descendants of J.G.H.S. or N.C.H.S graduates), and two $1,000 scholarships for which any J.G.H.S. senior is eligible to apply. We also award a $250 scholarship for the area College Night activity held at OUZ-Zane State Campus in March. After last year’s awards, the current balance in our fund is $45,343.69.

Our alumni contacts for the Alumni Endowed Scholarship are: Sean Hill (740-705-3612), Jean McKendry (740-607-7811), and George St. Clair (740-826-4001).

Now that we are awarding four scholarships, we appreciate your continuing support for this wonderful effort to show current J.G.H.S. students that their predecessors are still “Proud of Our Past and Providing for Our Future!”
